FLU-K (Flucloxacillin) is a isoxazolyl penicillin which is a bactericidal & is active against gram positive bacteria, gets the property of resistance to breakage by penicillinase & stable in gastric acid. It is particularly active against penicillinase producing staphylococci with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 0.25-0.5 mcg per ml.
FLU-K (Flucloxacillin) is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by Gram-positive organisms, including infections caused by Betalactamase producing Staphylococci.
The usual dose -
Children 1-3 years ½ -1 teaspoonful of Flu-K Dry Syrup (2.5 - 5 ml) 4 times a day;
Children of 3-10 years 1-2 teaspoonful Flu-K Dry Syrup (5 - 10 ml) 4 times a day for 7-10 days according to severity of infection.
