Povilect Eye Drops contains Povidone BP 5%, a synthetic polymer consisting essentially of linear 1-Vinyl-2-Pyrrolidinone groups. The eye drops function as an artificial tear solution by the physico-chemical properties of its active component Povidone. Povidone is a water soluble macromolecule which is absorbed onto the ocular surface and forms a lubricating film. This hydrophilic layer increases the wettability of the corneal surface and hence sustain the tear film stability. After topical application, Povilect eye drops spreads rapidly over the
conjunctiva and cornea forming a lubricating and protective film.

Povilect Eye Drops is used for the symptomatic treatment of dry eye conditions including keratoconjunctivitis sicca. It is also given as a substitute of tear fluid in case of unstable tear film or insufficient moistening of the eye surface.
